Ingredients

  • 1 pound russet potatoes sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 serving Dipping sauce optional

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Start by washing your russet potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. Once cleaned, slice them into thin, even strips. Aim for about 1/4 inch thickness for the best results.
  2. For extra crispy fries, soak the sliced potatoes in cold water for about 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch, which can lead to soggy fries. After soaking, drain and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced potatoes with the olive oil, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, pepper, dried parsley, and dried oregano. Toss them well until the potatoes are evenly coated with the seasoning mix.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for about 5 minutes. Preheating ensures that your fries start cooking immediately, giving them that crispy texture.
  5. Place the seasoned potato strips in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd them. Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. Keep an eye on them to prevent overcooking.
  6. Once the fries are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, if desired. Enjoy the delightful crunch and flavor of your homemade Air Fryer Fries!

Notes

  • For the crispiest fries, make sure to dry the potatoes thoroughly after soaking.
  • Experiment with different seasonings! Try adding chili powder, cayenne pepper, or even a sprinkle of parmesan cheese for a unique twist.
  • If you want thicker fries, just slice them thicker, but be aware they may take longer to cook.
