Ingredients

  • 16 ounces fresh or frozen gnocchi
  • 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt plus more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes optional

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Bowl
  • Spoon or spatula
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. If you’re using frozen gnocchi, there’s no need to thaw them. Just take them straight from the freezer. If using fresh gnocchi, they can go directly into the air fryer as well.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the gnocchi, extra virgin olive oil, oregano or Italian seasoning, garlic powder, kosher salt, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Toss everything together until the gnocchi are evenly coated in the oil and seasonings.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). This usually takes about 5 minutes, but check your model's instructions for specifics.
  4. Place the seasoned gnocchi in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Make sure not to overcrowd them for optimal crispiness. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  5. Air fry the gnocchi for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. Look for a beautiful golden-brown color and a crispy exterior.
  6. Once done, remove the gnocchi from the air fryer and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese while they are still hot. Toss gently to coat.
  7. Taste your gnocchi and adjust the seasoning with more kosher salt if needed. Serve immediately for the best texture.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding fresh herbs like basil or parsley.
  • Using a light mist of cooking spray can help achieve extra crispiness.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
