Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup whole wheat flour or additional all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt non-fat
  • 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon of water for the egg wash
  • Everything bagel seasoning for a classic flavor
  • Cinnamon sugar for a sweet twist
  • Rosemary Parmesan for a gourmet touch
  • Shredded cheese such as cheddar or Asiago

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Baking Mat or Parchment Paper
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, and kosher salt. Mix well to ensure an even distribution of the dry ingredients.
  2. Add the plain Greek yogurt to the bowl. Using a spatula or your hands, mix until a shaggy dough forms. Be careful not to overwork the dough; you want it to be just combined.
  3. Lightly flour your work surface. Divide the dough into four equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then poke a hole in the middle with your finger, gently stretching it into a bagel shape.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Meanwhile, place the shaped bagels on a baking mat or parchment paper. Brush each bagel with the egg wash, and sprinkle your desired toppings on top—everything bagel seasoning, cinnamon sugar, or rosemary Parmesan—all work beautifully.
  5. Arrange the bagels in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer. Cook for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Once cooked, carefully remove the bagels from the air fryer and let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes. They are delicious served warm, and you can enjoy them on their own or with your favorite spreads!

Notes

  • Experiment with different flours for unique flavors and textures.
  • Store bagels in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature.
  • For longer storage, freeze bagels in a single layer before transferring to a zip-top bag.
