Ingredients

  • 1.25 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning (or 1 packet)
  • 10 pieces crispy taco shells
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend)
  • shredded lettuce
  • pico de gallo
  • corn salsa
  • sour cream
  • guacamole

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Baking dish
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Oven mitts

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure your taco shells will be perfectly crispy.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and brown it until fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes.
  3. Drain any excess fat, then stir in the tomato sauce and taco seasoning. Let it simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Arrange the crispy taco shells in a baking dish and prepare to fill them.
  5. Spoon the beef mixture evenly into each taco shell, filling them generously.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the filled taco shells.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Prepare your toppings while the tacos are baking, such as chopped lettuce and pico de gallo.
  9. Remove the tacos from the oven, let them cool for a couple of minutes, and serve hot with your choice of toppings.

Notes

  • Make the beef mixture a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator.
  • For a leaner option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
  • Use gluten-free taco shells if needed to accommodate dietary restrictions.
