Cooking Baked Onion Rings:
- Prepare the onion by slicing it into 1/4 inch rings and separating the rings gently.
- Soak the onion rings in the buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
- Prepare your breading station by combining panko, Italian seasoned breadcrumbs, and corn flake crumbs. Season with salt.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Bread the onion rings by dredging them in the breadcrumb mixture and placing them on a baking sheet.
- Spray the tops with olive oil and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Once baked, let cool for a few minutes, then serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For extra crunch, make sure not to overcrowd the baking sheet.
- Soaking the onion in buttermilk is essential for flavor and adhesion of the breading.
