Servings: 4 servings
Course: Beverage
Cuisine: Latin American

Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 3 pieces Zapotes (peeled and pit removed, or enough to make 3 cups of chopped zapote)
  • 1 cup Sugar (white, granulated)
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 quarts Evaporated milk
  • 6 cups Ice

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Large pitcher
  • Spoon

Method

Instructions
  1. Start by peeling the zapotes and removing the pits. Chop them into smaller pieces to make blending easier. You should have about 3 cups of chopped zapote.
  2. In your blender, combine the chopped zapote, sugar, vanilla extract, and evaporated milk. Blend on high until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Once your mixture is smooth, add in the ice. Blend again until the ice is fully incorporated, and the shake is frothy and thick.
  4. Before serving, taste your Batida de Zapote. You can adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar if desired or even a splash of milk if it’s too thick.
  5. Pour your Batida de Zapote into tall glasses, and serve immediately. Garnish with a slice of zapote or a sprig of mint for an extra touch of flair!

Notes

  • Store leftover shake in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
  • For a richer flavor, substitute half of the evaporated milk with coconut cream.
  • Add a drizzle of chocolate syrup for a decadent twist!
