Ingredients

  • 1 stick salted butter
  • 1 cup dark chocolate melts or chips
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (plain flour)
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spatula
  • 8x8 baking pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Oven

Method

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides.
  3. In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine the stick of salted butter and dark chocolate melts or chips. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
  4. Once the chocolate mixture has cooled slightly, whisk in the granulated sugar until combined. Then, add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the batter is glossy and thick.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the chocolate batter until just combined.
  6. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan. Use a spatula to spread it evenly.
  7. Bake in your preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before lifting them out using the parchment paper. Allow them to cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
