For the Casserole:
  • 1 (8 to 10-ounce) loaf French bread cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups milk whole milk or alternative
  • 1/2 cup Butterscotch sauce for the custard
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Butterscotch sauce for drizzling on top
  • 4 sheets graham crackers coarsely crushed

Method
 

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Bread - Cut French bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a baking dish.
  2. Step 2: Whisk the Custard - In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and 1/2 cup butterscotch sauce until combined.
  3. Step 3: Combine with Bread - Pour the custard over bread cubes, pressing them down to soak for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Step 4: Add Butter and Sugar - Drizzle melted butter over the casserole and sprinkle with brown sugar.
  5. Step 5: Crush the Graham Crackers - Sprinkle crushed graham crackers over the top of the casserole.
  6. Step 6: Drizzle More Butterscotch Sauce - Drizzle an additional 2 tablespoons of butterscotch sauce on top.
  7. Step 7: Bake to Perfection - Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Step 8: Serve and Enjoy - Allow to cool, slice, and drizzle with more butterscotch sauce if desired.
