Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken fresh
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard optional
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or 4 tablespoons flour

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Non-stick skillet or grill
  • Spatula
  • Meat thermometer

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, minced garlic, egg, avocado oil, Dijon mustard (if using), sea salt, black pepper, and breadcrumbs or flour. Use your hands or a spatula to mix everything until well incorporated. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the patties tough.
  2. Once the mixture is combined, divide it into equal portions. Form each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb; this helps them cook evenly and prevents them from puffing up.
  3. Heat your non-stick skillet or grill over medium heat and add a little avocado oil. Once hot, place the patties in the skillet or on the grill. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  4. Remove the patties from the skillet or grill and let them rest for a few minutes. Serve them on a bun with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, avocado, and a dollop of your favorite sauce. Enjoy your delicious homemade chicken burgers!

Notes

  • Prep patties ahead of time and refrigerate for quick weeknight dinners.
  • Freeze uncooked patties for up to 3 months and cook from frozen.
  • Always check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer for safety.
