Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened to room temperature
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch kosher salt
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for rolling
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for flavor

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Cookie scoop or tablespoon

Method

  1. Cream the softened butter and cream cheese together in a mixing bowl until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until fully incorporated, then mix in the granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and kosher salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture on low speed until just combined.
  6. For best results, cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Using a cookie scoop, portion the dough into balls and roll in the remaining granulated sugar mixed with cinnamon.
  9. Place cookie balls on the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart, and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
  • Freeze cookie dough balls for up to 3 months and bake directly from frozen.
  • If cookies lose softness, microwave for a few seconds to revive them.
