Ingredients

  • 1 package sweetened flake coconut (14-ounce)
  • 3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sweetened flake coconut, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, egg whites, and kosher salt. Stir well until all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
  3. Using a spatula or your hands, scoop about 2 tablespoons of the mixture and form it into a mound. Place the mound onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat this process, spacing each mound about 2 inches apart.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the tops are golden brown. Keep an eye on them, as oven temperatures can vary.
  5. Once baked, remove the macaroons from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Store macaroons in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • Freeze in a single layer in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
  • Reheat in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for about 5 minutes for best texture.
