Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Mix:
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour or gluten-free baking blend or white whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mix-ins of your choice (chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, nuts, dried fruit, or coconut)
For the Cookie Dough:
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened (1 stick)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Equipment

Method
 

Instructions:
  1. Layer the dry ingredients in the jar starting with the oats, followed by flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Add the brown sugar, packing it down, followed by the granulated sugar.
  3. Add your chosen mix-ins on top of the sugars.
  4. Seal the jar tightly and decorate with a ribbon or label.
  5. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cream butter with egg and vanilla, then mix in jar contents. Drop spoonfuls onto a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
