Ingredients

For the Salmon:
  • 1.5 lbs sockeye salmon fillet fresh, skin-on
  • 1/2 cup avocado oil mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp lemon or lime zest
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp dried basil optional
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt to taste

Equipment

  • Baking dish
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spatula
  • Meat thermometer

Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the avocado oil mayonnaise, lemon or lime zest, minced garlic, ground turmeric, ground ginger, dried basil (if using), and sea salt. Use a whisk or spatula to mix until smooth and well-combined.
  3. Place the sockeye salmon fillet skin-side down in a baking dish. Ensure the fish is dry and free of any excess moisture.
  4. Spread the creamy turmeric ginger sauce generously over the top of the salmon, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
  5. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  6. Once done, remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Serve it warm, garnished with additional lemon or lime wedges.

Notes

  • Always use fresh, high-quality salmon for the best flavor.
  • Monitor the cooking time closely to avoid overcooking.
  • Pat the salmon dry before applying the sauce for better browning.
