Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 package McCormick Fire Roasted Garlic Chili Skillet Sauce
  • 1 cup slightly crushed tortilla chips
  • 1+ cups shredded cheddar cheese

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Begin by heating your skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet and allow it to warm up.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add the diced onion to the skillet. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
  3. Add the 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet. Using a wooden spoon, break it apart and cook until it’s browned and fully cooked, which should take about 5-7 minutes. Make sure to drain any excess grease if necessary.
  4. Pour in the McCormick Fire Roasted Garlic Chili Skillet Sauce, stirring to combine it with the beef and onions. Let it simmer for a few minutes until everything is heated through.
  5. Once the beef mixture is ready, sprinkle 1 cup of slightly crushed tortilla chips evenly over the top of the beef mixture.
  6. Now, it’s time to add the cheesy goodness! Sprinkle 1+ cups of shredded cheddar cheese over the tortilla chips, covering them generously.
  7. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it cook on low heat for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and is bubbly.
  8. Once the cheese is melted, remove the skillet from heat. Serve your Easy Retro Skillet Taco Pie hot, garnished with your favorite toppings like sour cream, guacamole, or chopped cilantro if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Feel free to customize with your favorite toppings like sour cream or guacamole.
