Ingredients

  • 8 oz full-fat cream cheese at room temperature
  • 1 tbsp sour cream at room temperature
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp jalapenos finely chopped, plus 1 tablespoon for topping
  • 2 tbsp green onions chopped, plus 1 teaspoon for topping
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded, plus 2 tablespoons for topping
  • 1/3 cup pecans chopped

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Plastic wrap
  • Serving platter
  • Knife

Method

  1. Begin by finely chopping the jalapenos and green onions. This will ensure they mix well into the cream cheese and provide an even distribution of flavor throughout the cheese ball.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add the room-temperature cream cheese and sour cream. Using a spatula, mix them together until smooth and creamy.
  3. Incorporate the garlic powder, onion powder, and salt into the cream cheese mixture. Mix well to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
  4. Gently fold in the chopped jalapenos, shredded cheddar cheese, and chopped green onions. Be careful not to overmix; you want to maintain some texture.
  5. Transfer the mixture onto a large piece of plastic wrap. Using the wrap, form the mixture into a ball shape. Wrap it tightly and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
  6. While the cheese ball chills, finely chop the reserved jalapenos and green onions. In a small bowl, combine these toppings with the additional shredded cheddar cheese and chopped pecans.
  7. Once the cheese ball has firmed up, remove it from the refrigerator. Unwrap the plastic wrap and roll the cheese ball in the topping mixture until evenly coated.
  8. Transfer your Jalapeno Popper Cheese Ball to a serving platter. Serve with a variety of crackers, chips, or fresh vegetables. Enjoy the explosion of flavors as your guests dig in!

  • Wrap the cheese ball tightly in plastic wrap to keep it fresh.
