Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 6 ounces Havarti cheese shredded
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh herbs such as chives and parsley
  • 1/4 cup dry sun-dried tomatoes finely chopped (not oil-packed)
  • 1/4 cup walnuts finely chopped or walnut meal
  • Crostini and crackers for serving

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Plastic wrap
  • Serving platter

Method

  1. Start by gathering all your ingredients. Chop the fresh herbs, sun-dried tomatoes, and walnuts finely. This ensures every bite of your Mini Cheese Balls is packed with flavor.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and shredded Havarti cheese. Using a spatula, mix until well blended and creamy. This will be the base of your cheese balls.
  3. Next, fold in the chopped herbs, sun-dried tomatoes, and walnuts into the cheese mixture. Stir until all ingredients are evenly distributed. The colors and textures should be vibrant and inviting!
  4. Using your hands, scoop out a small amount of the cheese mixture (about 1 tablespoon) and roll it into a ball. Place each ball on a tray. Continue until all of the mixture is used.
  5. Once all the cheese balls are formed, cover them with plastic wrap and place them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This helps them firm up, making them easier to handle.
  6. After chilling, arrange the Mini Cheese Balls on a serving platter. Pair them with crostini and crackers for a delightful appetizer spread. Garnish with extra herbs for a pop of color.

Notes

  • Store leftover cheese balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Freeze cheese balls before serving by wrapping them tightly in plastic wrap and storing them in a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months.
  • Feel free to customize the herbs and cheeses used for different flavor profiles!
