Begin by removing the tofu from its packaging and draining any excess liquid. Wrap the block of tofu in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels and place a heavy object on top, such as a cast-iron skillet or a few cans. Let it press for about 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
Once the tofu is pressed, cut it into cubes or rectangles, aiming for about 1-inch pieces to ensure even cooking.
In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce and sesame oil. Add the tofu cubes and gently toss until all pieces are well-coated. Allow the tofu to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
After marinating, sprinkle the cornstarch over the tofu and gently toss again until all pieces are evenly coated.
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
Place the tofu cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook the tofu for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
Once the tofu is golden brown and crispy, remove it from the air fryer. Serve it hot!
