Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups milk or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon flaked salt

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Mixing bowls
  • Spatula
  • Double boiler or microwave-safe bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Parchment paper (optional)

Method

  1. Start by greasing your 9x13-inch baking dish with a little butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, creamy peanut butter, graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until everything is well combined and forms a thick, crumbly mixture.
  3. Transfer the crumb mixture into the prepared baking dish. Using a spatula or your hands, press it down firmly and evenly across the bottom. This will form a solid base for your bars.
  4. In a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with the coconut oil. If using a microwave, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
  5. Once melted, pour the chocolate over the pressed crust, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  6. Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle the flaked salt generously over the top. This will enhance the flavor and give a beautiful finish to your bars.
  7. Place the baking dish in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow the bars to set completely.
  8. Once set, remove the bars from the dish using the parchment paper (if used), slice them into squares, and indulge in the deliciousness!

Notes

  • For the best texture, make sure your butter is softened but not melted.
  • Do not skip the flaked salt on top; it truly enhances the overall flavor.
  • If you prefer a thicker chocolate layer, feel free to add an additional half cup of chocolate chips.
  • Make sure to let the bars chill adequately so that they hold their shape when sliced.
