Ingredients

  • 1 head cauliflower cut into bite-sized florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce choose a meat-free variety
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey for natural sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • chopped green onions for garnish

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring spoons
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Spatula or tongs

Method

  1. Start by washing and drying your cauliflower head, then cut it into evenly sized bite-sized florets. Uniform pieces ensure even cooking in the air fryer.
  2. Place the cauliflower florets in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle with garlic powder, ground ginger, salt, and pepper. Toss everything together gently until the cauliflower is evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the cauliflower florets in a single layer inside the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd them. Cook for 15-18 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even crisping. The cauliflower should be golden and crispy on the edges when done.
  4. While the cauliflower is cooking, combine the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, and honey in a small bowl. Mix well until smooth and set aside.
  5. Once the cauliflower bites are cooked and crispy, transfer them back to the mixing bowl. Pour the prepared sticky sweet chili sauce over the bites and toss gently to coat each piece evenly.
  6. Sprinkle chopped green onions over the top for a pop of color and fresh flavor. Serve immediately while warm and sticky.

Notes

  • Use maple syrup or agave nectar instead of honey for a vegan-friendly alternative.
  • Try tamari or coconut aminos in place of soy sauce for a gluten-free option.
  • To keep bites crispy when reheating, reheat in the air fryer rather than the microwave.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even crisping.
  • Adjust the sweetness and spice level of the sauce to your preference by adding more honey or red pepper flakes.
